MEET BERTA
Berta is a licensed clinical social worker with a Master’s Degree in Social Work Advanced Clinical Practice from Saint Leo University. Berta also completed graduate studies in Criminal Justice from Nova Southeastern University. She has been practicing and researching within the field for over 10 years.
Affectionately called “Miss B” by many of her younger patients, Berta has been fully rostered by the NC Child Treatment Program to provide Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to children ages 5 to 18. She is also part of the NC Rostered program to provide Problematic Sexualized Behavior-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to Adolescents Ages 13-18.
Berta also treats adult clients with various types of mental health concerns, such as anxiety and depression, as well as couples and families in distress.

Additional Experience:
Berta Chavez, MSW, LCSW, is also an adjunct professor of Psychopathology at a Graduate program and has conducted and published research studies in the field of trauma among immigrant youth.
She has also presented at professional conferences on the topic of problematic sexualized behavior in adolescents and secondary traumatic stress.
